Life Choices: Reflections on Family, Boundaries, and the Future
Hello beautiful people! Today I write from my heart, but also from my mind—from a place of reflection. Today's post will be a very personal story, but without going into extreme detail. I mean, I still need a little privacy, hehehe.
An older family member passed away two days ago. He was 89, and apparently, he was already showing signs of fading. But wait, before you feel sorry for the situation, the truth is I hadn't seen him in over 20 years or so.
Things happened in the past that caused us to cut ties with him. Don't worry, he didn't pass away alone; he was taken care of and was with other relatives.
The Power of Life Choices
I am not here to talk about the reasons or the whys. Sometimes things happen and you just have to stay away. The real reason I am writing this is to talk about life choices! The simple things people can do but refuse to do, or don't really care to do.
This situation made me think about my own life and the things I want for my future. I want to be loved by my family and give out all the love I possibly can to my close relatives.
I don't mean I want to live a life where everybody likes me, because that is impossible. But I do want to live a life where I make good choices—or at least the best choices I can make at any given moment in time. I want to live a life with meaning, with a purpose. I don't want to live holding grudges or judging people.
Building a Legacy of Love
If life gives me the chance to have at least one child, I want them to know how to make good choices, live with good values, and above all, know that they have my love and support when they become an adult. If my child has kids and makes me a grandparent, I would love for my grandchildren to love me, to know they have an ally in me, and to feel deeply loved.
I understand that sometimes life can be difficult or complicated, but I hope my Guardian Angel is there to guide me and help me make the best decisions. Really, I just hope that my decisions and actions come from love, and not from anger, greed, or judgment.
Knowing When to Walk Away
I say all of this because I understand that even if you forgive someone, if they continue with their same flaws, you have to walk away and close those doors. You wish them the best, and you walk away.
Life is an instant, so live it well, make good choices, and live with love in your heart.
